The spring 2023 wine trip to Germany takes you through a picturesque landscape cut by rivers, where small idyllic wine villages shine with their beauty. The first sure signs of wine production in Germany date back to the Roman Empire. The most famous wine production regions in Germany are the Rheingau and the Moselle riverside. On the trip, the first night will be spent in Bernkastel-Kues, exploring the Mosel region, and the last two nights in Rudesheim am Rhein, exploring the Rheingau wine region. On the way, you will also cycle on electric bikes and cruise on a riverboat in the picturesque scenery of the Mosel River. Top wine, high-quality, delicious food and wonderful scenery, as well as hotel facilities, a comfortable travel companion with wine expert guide Antti Uusitalo, known from Viinilehti, will make the trip unforgettable.

Travel program
DAY 1. THURSDAY
Finnair’s morning flight to Frankfurt. Charter transport to Koblenz, the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers in one of Germany’s oldest and most beautiful cities. Koblez still shows hints of Roman influence.
A visit to the Weingut Göhle winery, which grows its wines on steep slopes and offers wine tastings. At the farm, you can also learn about wine production and its history in the atmospheric wine cellar.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
The trip continues to picturesque Bernkastel Kues, where we stay at the Burgblick boutique hotel.
Dinner at the famous Alt Bernkastel restaurant, where you can enjoy traditional German food with wines from the restaurant’s own winery, Weingut Kilburg.
DAY 2. FRIDAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure on electric bikes towards Traben-Trarbach along the banks of the Mosel river.
Visiting a winery on the way; Dr. Pauly Bergweiler winery. The length of the bike ride is approx. 25 km.
In Traben-Trarbach, lunch at the great Belluevue restaurant by the river. After lunch, return to Bernkastel-Kues by cruising on a riverboat (bikes on board).
Bicycle return and order transport to the Rhine River in Rudesheim am Rhein.
Accommodation at the Hoteltraube Rüdesheim hotel.
Dinner at the historic Weingut Drosselhof restaurant, which already operated in 1727 as the first inn in the area.
DAY 3. SATURDAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Getting to know the Rheingau wine region. A visit to the Georg Breuer family-owned winery. The history of this traditional winery goes back to the beginning of the 20th century, since then it has been owned by the Breuer family. Georg Breuer’s flagship wines come from small Grand Cru plots of around 2 hectares located on steep slopes. The operation of the Breuer winery in the orchards and cellar is as natural as possible, and the operation of the house has many influences of biodynamic farming.
The trip continues to the Schloss Johannisburg wine castle, which has more than 1,200 years of winemaking history as a Benedictine monastery. Schloss Johannisberg is still known for its fine wines.
Lunch is enjoyed in the winery’s restaurant, which has wonderful views over the vineyards.
In the afternoon you have free time in the center of Rüdesheim.
Dinner at the Italian restaurant Casa Pettinari.
DAY 4. SUNDAY
A 3-hour excursion first on the cable car through the wine-growing landscapes up to the Germania monument, from there it is about half an hour’s walk to the restaurant Jagdschloss.
Have a glass of wine in the restaurant and the journey continues with the chairlift down to Assmanshausen to red wine village. The trip continues with a cruise for about 45 minutes back to Rudesheim.
Lunch at the Schloss Vollrads winery restaurant before departure to the airport. After lunch Private transport to Frankfurt Airport. Finnair’s evening flight to Helsinki.
