Wine tour Italy, Tuscany

Join us to wonderful Tuscany, Italy’s most beautiful wine region to enjoy life with great wines and delicious Italian food. On the way, we will get to know the wine regions of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The historic center of the city of Siena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Piazza del Campo became famous for the horse races in the latest Bond movie.

The old fortified town of San Gimignano is known for its architecture and especially its towers. You will also get to know the captivating capital of Tuscany, Florence, and its magnificent Renaissance buildings and art treasures. On the way, you will stay 2 nights in Florence and 2 nights in Siena. Finnish-Italian tour guide & wine expert Maddalena Benedetti is on the trip.

Day 1. Wednesday

Direct Finnair morning flight from Helsinki to Rome (07.50-10.15). Order transport from Rome’s Fiumicino airport to the Tuscan coast to the Maremma wine region. Winery visit and lunch with wine tasting at Tenuta Fertuna winery. The trip continues to Florence, where we will stay in the city center, at the upscale Hotel Pierre. Free evening to explore the city of Florence.

Day 2. Thursday

After breakfast we will go to the wine region of Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Before the winery visit, time to do a small tour of San Gimignano, followed by a winery visit at the Azienda Agricola Palagetto, where we will enjoy lunch and a high-quality wine tasting. After the visit, return to the hotel in Florence and free time in the afternoon. In the evening, wine and antipasti at a local wine bar.

Day 3. Friday

Check-out from the hotel after breakfast. We will go to the Montalcino wine region to get to know the high-quality, fruity full-bodied red wines of Brunello di Montalcino. We get to know the Val di Suga winery with wine tasting. After the visit, lunch will be enjoyed in the village of Montalcino. After lunch, free time to explore the village or visit the fortress’s enoteca to taste excellent wines. The journey continues to the historic center of Siena, where we stay at the 4* Hotel Athena. A free evening in the city of Siena.

Day 4. Saturday

After breakfast we leave for Pienza, famous for its pecorino cheeses. We visit a cheese farm, where we taste tasty cheeses and learn about their production. The trip continues to the Montepulciano area, where we get to know the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. We visit the Cantina Gattavecchi winery for lunch and wine tasting. Free time to explore the village of Montepulciano. Return transport to the hotel and final dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5. Sunday

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and departure to Orvieto. Orvieto is one of Italy’s most beautiful and famous ancient cities. The city is located in the hills known for their volcanic soil in Umbria, right next to the province of Tuscany. Free time to make a small tour of the historic city. Winery visit at the small Madonna del Latte winery with wine tasting with Umbrian wines and local delicacies. The journey continues to Fiumicino airport. Finnair’s return flight to Helsinki in the evening.
